Our Story

Hi! My name is Maria.

What I love about flowers is that they’re more than just beautiful blooms. They stir the senses and awaken nostalgia. They are companions to our most joyful celebrations and our deepest sorrows. They can communicate everything from love, hope, or gratitude to a simple hello. Whatever your circumstances when you visit our flower stand, my family is honored and delighted to grow, nourish, and provide the flowers to accompany you on your journey.

After renovating our historic home in Jacksonville, IL in 2020, my husband Drew and I bounced around several ideas for how to make the best use of our 1.2 acres. We had heard tales of the exquisite gardens lovingly maintained for over 60 years by prior owners Doris and Ed Hopper, and we hoped to continue that legacy, but evidence of those gardens had since disappeared and we weren’t sure where to start. However, when the blue violets bloomed in April and we saw our backyard once again transform into a beautiful sea of color, we decided to dive right into planting more flowers. Our flower farm currently produces 120 different varieties of seasonal blooms, and nothing brings us more joy than to share those flowers with you.

One of the things that first drew us to flower farming was the idea of showing our four children the joy of a life spent outside, digging in the dirt, growing beauty. As a family farm, we are dedicated to maintaining a healthy ecosystem for all who interact with our land, including our children, our native pollinators and wildlife, and, of course, our valued customers! You can rest assured that the bouquets you receive from us have not been in contact with any toxic herbicides or pesticides. We believe in working with nature rather than against it, and we nourish our plants and soil using regenerative growing practices including cover cropping, composting, and incorporating native perennials and shrubs to encourage biodiversity.
